Upper Darby Corporation for Community and Economic Development (UDCCED) has been awarded a grant from the Foundation for Delaware County to partner with Centro de Apoyo on a Free Farmers’ Market to bring fresh fruits and vegetables and nutrition lessons to the members of the Centro Community. We propose to hold 7-10 farmers’ markets, one each month, starting in September 2021 until April 2022 in which Centro Community Members can pick up free produce. In addition, we would hold six monthly nutrition lessons for approximately 25 community members.
Job Description for the Project Coordinator
Centro de Apoyo Comunitario and the Upper Darby Corporation for Community and Economic Development (UDCCED) are looking for a part-time project coordinator to work 20 hours a month for 9 months (August 2021– April 2022 ) in support of this project. The position is by contract and will be paid $20 per hour on a monthly basis. The ideal candidate for this work will be able to demonstrate experience and ability in the following:
- Communicate fluently with a Spanish speaking community
- Cultivate relationships with a core group of families, maintain list of contacts needed for programming
- Encourage participation in nutrition workshops, promote each topic
- Serve as a point of connection with the program participants and connect them with other local resources as needed
- Coordinate and schedule volunteers
- Help with ordering produce for farmers’ markets and set up for the market
- Maintain basic stats and info about foods to order, number of participants and track feedback
- Be able to lift and carry at least 40 lbs
- Participate in community meetings that relate to the programming such as funder or stakeholder calls

- Proof of legal eligibility to work in the US
- Use of own phone, computer and internet connection to perform calls and duties
Preference:
- Resident of Upper Darby during the term of the contract
Schedule
Each week – 2 hours to call and promote the program, gather feedback = 8 hrs total per month
Each week – 1 hour to contact volunteers = 4 hrs total per month
Monthly – 2 hours monthly to order food and prep for farmers’ market = 2 hrs total per month
Market week – 6 hours at Market (including set up and break down with help) = 6 hrs total per month
The schedule is flexible and depends on the actual work needed for each task
