All residents of Upper Darby Township deserve to live in a community that supports their physical and mental health and gives them pride in their neighborhood. In addition, as a community we recognize that we are connected to all that surrounds us and that we have a responsibility to protect and care for not only our own space, but also for the common resources, such as air and water, that we share with all those beyond Upper Darby Township. To this end, the UD CCED will work towards
- advocating to our local government for measures that protect our air and water from pollutants that destroy our natural environment and cause serious health consequences to our residents
- working with residents and local organizations on efforts to “green” Upper Darby Township such as planting trees in heat island areas, promoting rain gardens and rain barrels for storm water management, identifying areas to protect for open space, etc.
- identifying and securing resources for Upper Darby Township to both educate residents on important environmental issues and support efforts to create a more equitable and sustainable future
- convening community organizations to collaborate on anti-litter campaigns, beautification efforts, and community pride activities
